Welcome We are looking forward to welcoming you at the Breath
Summit, which will take place from June 17-20, 2018 in Maastricht, the
Netherlands.
The field of breath research is rapidly growing, mainly because of
improved analytical instrumentations, sensor technologies combined with
sophisticated data analysis approaches, and the attractiveness of the
non-invasive sampling. Altogether, in the breath community we dream big
dreams and the ultimate hallucination is that of personal monitoring of
health and disease.
Since breath research is transdisciplinary in nature, intense
collaborations are a prerequisite to take the field to the next level.
For this, trustful and enduring relations should be built between
different disciplines and time and energy should be invested in
understanding the problems encountered in other research areas.
Therefore, the theme of this 2018 Breath Summit is Bridging Breath
Research! We intend to build bridges between physicians who apply breath
analysis in the clinic and physicists, biologists, chemists, engineers
and computer scientists who develop new technologies, sensors and
algorithms.
Maastricht is situated on both sides of the river Meuse (Maas in Dutch)
in the south-eastern part of the Netherlands between Belgium and
Germany. The name of the city is derived from its Latin name
Trajectum Ad Mosam (Meuse-crossing), referring to the bridge built
by the Romans under the reign of Augustus Caesar. Because of this
historical bridging function, Maastricht is an ideal spot to connect and
to offer a variety of other bridges over the river Meuse that guarantee
crossing… across borders, disciplines and generations! Furthermore,
Maastricht is an old city with many heritage sites and terraces,
offering endless possibilities to sit down and discuss collaborations
while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
So, we hope to see you all in Maastricht to join this unique and lively
congress!
